It started with a vision…..

Founded in 2021 by experienced space experts, R-Space combines standard CubeSat technology with customizable payload units. The R-Space team consist of young, devoted engineers with many years of experience in the development of upstream technologies.

Dr. Carsten Scharlemann

Dr. Carsten Scharlemann brings over 30 years of experience in satellite technology and space propulsion. He was deputy head of the Austrian Institute of Technology, led the Aerospace Engineering department at FH Wiener Neustadt for 14 years, and founded R-Space in 2021.
He holds an M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from TU Munich and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Christof Obertscheider

Dr. Christof Obertscheider received his doctorate from the University of Vienna. and subsequently was working for several years in industry to become an expert in Computer-Aided-Engineering (FEM-based stress and thermal Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics). Working and teaching at University of Applied Sciencies Wiener Neustadt, he combined his expertise in scientific computing with engineering needs to develop customized CAE Workflows and acts as a scientific advisor for aircraft and spacecraft development projects.

Dr. Wolfgang Treberspurg

Dr. Wolfgang Treberspurg has long year experience in the development and testing of payloads for space applications. After receiving his Ph.D. from the technical University of Vienna for, he worked four years at the Max-Planck-Institute for extraterrestrial physics on the development of major instruments of ESA missions. In 2019 he joined the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt and is currently head of the Aerospace Engineering department. There he established national and international cooperations based on funded projects with the focus on instrumentation and radiation hardness.
